The joint Upper Midwest Digital Collections Conference (#UMDCC20) and the Minnesota Digital Library Annual Meeting (#mndiglib2020) was held virtually November 5-6, 2020. Our two conferences share the same goals of providing an opportunity to connect with colleagues, share projects, and learn from each other, with the added benefit of cross-pollination between two different groups with many affinities.
Note: Registration is required for this event and is now closed.

Heather Carroll

St Catherine University/HCL Special Collections
Adjunct Faculty, Master of Library and Information Science Program
Heather Carroll is an archivist, historian and artist working in the Twin Cities. Her research has focused on the Women's Art Movement in the Twin Cities, and more broadly the relationship between women and the arts across time. Carroll was recently a Legacy Library Fellowship recipient at the Minnesota Historical Society's Gale Family Library and holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from St. Catherine University, a graduate certificate in Museum Studies from University of St. Thomas and a BFA in Fine Art from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Carroll is the adjunct faculty for Archives and Special Collections classes in St. Kate's MLIS program.
Carroll first started working with the Ann Jennings Student Print Archive in 2016 as a graduate assistant for the St. Catherine University Fine Art Collection. Back then, little was known about the collection other than St. Kate's students had made the prints. Over the following two years, Carroll would research the history of the collection, work with the Gallery director Nicole Watson to curate exhibits with these prints, inventory, digitize and describe the works with Visual Resource curator, Jennifer Adam, along with help from other undergraduate student workers, and work with faculty and students in the MLIS program to facilitate digital collections and exhibit creation in the Digital Libraries course.
Carroll also works with Hennepin County Libraries Special Collections where she works with the Star Tribune photo collection to digitize and create metadata.
